Bleeding Wound: Underage Marriages in Turkey
Abstract
This study deals with early marriages which are tried to be prevented by national and international regulations and for which girls are generally victimized and which is a very common issue in Turkey along with reasons and negative effects on girls. Moreover, these marriages that violate many rights of children which they have because of being a person are studied in terms of their relationships with rights guaranteed under a variety of contracts and the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey. At the end of the study, a variety of recommendations which is believed to be effective will be asserted so that early marriages that are accepted as a social, legal and cultural problem and that are in contradiction with the right to choose his/her own spouse when a physically, mentally and emotionally immature person becomes an adult can be prevented.
